ITINERARY:

This tour is special as it focuses on religious life of St. Petersburg. Besides touring the must-see sights such as The Winter Palace, Palace Square, Neva River embankment, Field of Mars, Decembrists' Square with Bronze Horseman (a statue of Peter the Great), Strelka and Peter & Paul Fortress, you will visit inside active Orthodox Kazan Cathedral named after a 'miracle-making' icon of Our Lady of Kazan. The cathedral is located in Nevsky Prospect and is reminiscent of St.Peter's Cathedral in Rome with its same stately appearance and the elegant proportions of its Colonnade. Kazan Cathedral was closed during the Communist period and was opened only after dissolution of the Soviet Union.
You will next continue your city tour with a visit to St. Isaac's Cathedral which is currently a museum where religious services are only held at Christmas, Easter and other important religious occasions. It is one of the world's largest cathedrals capable of accommodating 10,000 worshippers. You will admire the breath-taking interiors richly decorated with different kinds of marble, malachite and semi-precious stones, impressive mosaics of icons, shining brass ornaments.
You will next visit Spilled Blood Church, the only old Russian-style church in European St.Petersburg. The church was built on the spot of Alexander II assassination in 1881. Spilled Blood Church is renowned for its several thousand square yards of mosaics. After this informative tour, you will return to your hotel or stay in the city center.
Must-see sights: Nevsky Prospect, Square of Arts, Spilled Blood Church, Alexandrinsky Theater, St. Isaac's Square, The Winter Palace, Palace Square, Bronze Horseman (a statue of Peter the Great), Strelka with Rostral Columns, Fine Arts Academy, The Admiralty, University, etc.
Remarks: Wearing shorts is not allowed inside Kazan cathedral. Wednesday - day off at St. Isaac's Cathedral and Spilled Blood Church.

LynP43.:  We recently used "Guide Guru" for a private tour of St. Petersburg. We could not have been happier with the entire experience. It started with Natalia, the administrator, who was quick, efficient, flexible and a pleasure to deal with in making the arrangements. Inna, our guide, spoke perfect English and was extremely knowledgeable. She is a warm, charming person and added immensely to the enjoyment of our time in St. Petersburg. Vladimir, our driver, was a definite asset as well. He was cheerful, helpful, polite and professional. Together, they made us feel like real superstars. In short, NOTHING COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER!
LuizFortes: Guide-Guru was fantastic. Great guide and driver. Vera, our guide, showed enormous knowledge of Russian and city history answering every single question we had, besides her great sympathy. Beautiful city and awesome tour.  Read more reviews
