ITINERARY:

In the morning your car will take you to Peterhof which lies on the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland, 18 miles west of St. Petersburg. Your journey to Peterhof will take about 1 hour each way. During this time you will pass through the residential and suburban areas of St. Petersburg and see apartment houses of the local citizenry. Upon arrival, you will leave your car at the parking lot and walk to Peterhof Fountain Park to view the numerous fountains and gilded statues of the main cascades. You will see The Grand Cascade with the largest fountain of Samson Rending the Jaws of a Lion. Besides The Grand Cascade, you will explore other beautiful parts of Lower Park: see major Peterhof fountain cascades: Golden Hill or Chessboard, experience the 'trick fountains' that shoot at unpredictable intervals and soak passers-by. Anywhere you go here there is something to admire, grand waterfront landscapes, shady green alleys, sparkling jets of fountains, perfection of park sculpture and architecture. You will then return to your car and travel back to St. Petersburg.

When in the city, you will drive along Nevsky Prospect, pass by The Grand Hotel Europe, The House of Books, Kazan Cathedral, travel further along Malaya Morskaya Street to St. Isaac's Square with Bronze Horseman statue, stop at St. Isaac's Cathedral (outside), drive to Mariinsky Theater, The Synagogue (an inside visit is optional), visit inside orthodox St. Nicolas Church, pass by The Yusupovs' Palace, New Holland Island, over Blagovezschensky Bridge, visit St. Basil's Island (Vasilievsky Ostrov), pass by the Egyptian sphynxes, Academy of Fine Arts, Menshikov Palace, Kunstkamera, The Academy of Sciences, Zoological Museum, The Research Institute of Pavlov, stop in front of the University, drive over Palace Bridge, along the palace embankment by The Hermitage, turn to The Moika River, stop at the Spilled Blood Church (outside), drive to the Square of Arts (a photo stop), pass by The Russian Museum, Philharmonic of Shostakovich, along Sadovaya Street, by Michael's Castle, The Summer Garden, The Field of Mars. Depending on traffic condition, you can continue driving to Smolny Cathedral.

Must-see sights: Peterhof Fountain Park, Nevsky Prospect, Square of Arts, Spilled Blood Church, Alexandrinsky Theater, St. Isaac's Square, The Winter Palace, Palace Square, Bronze Horseman (Peter the Great statue), Strelka with Rostral Columns, Fine Arts Academy, The Admiralty, University, etc.

Optional: The Synagogue.

Inside visits: Peterhof Fountain Park, St. Nicolas Naval Church. If you wish to add inside visits for other cathedrals, please request it when making a booking. Additional entrance fees will apply.

TnA2013: We really wanted to pick up some areas of St Petersburg we had not been to before so looked through all the online companies we could fine. Guide Guru offered a comprehensive trip for one day which included the Metro and Hydrofoil back from the Peterhof Palance, We met Tatania when we disembarked and waited for the rest of our group of 6 - fantastic size group. A good well equipped minivan was provided which was comfortable and a very good driver. Tania was very well spoken and gave us good information about out plans for the day and provided good commentary during our trip. All tickets were pre-ordered so we didn't have long to wait to visit each place. The day trip was really well organised as well as the booking process. Good idea to offer a discount for cash as opposed to paying by card and very well priced day trip. Thank You!
