ITINERARY:

In the morning your car will take you to Peterhof which lies on the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland, 18 miles west of St. Petersburg. Your journey to Peterhof will take about 1 hour each way. During this time you will pass through the residential and suburban areas of St. Petersburg and see apartment houses of the local citizenry. Upon arrival, you will leave your car at the parking lot and walk to Peterhof Fountain Park to admire the numerous fountains and gilded statues of the Main Cascade. You will see the Grand Cascade with the largest fountain of Samson Rending the Jaws of a Lion. You will next tour Grand Peterhof Palace. Built on a hill overlooking the Gulf of Finland, Grand Peterhof Palace was the first summer residence of the Russian Czars to be built in the St. Petersburg area. Peter the Great oversaw the construction himself and spent most of his spare time in this palace. Entering the Palace you will make your way up the Gold Staircase which is decorated with gold leaf and intricate wood-carvings. During this visit, you will view the meticulously restored lavish interiors of the early 18th century filled with original furniture, beautiful chandeliers, and authentic paintings. You will then return to your car and travel back to St. Petersburg.

When in the city, you will drive along Nevsky Prospect, pass by The Grand Hotel Europe, The House of Books, Kazan Cathedral, travel further along Malaya Morskaya Street to St. Isaac's Square with Bronze Horseman statue, stop at St. Isaac's Cathedral (outside), drive to Mariinsky Theater, The Synagogue (an inside visit is optional), visit inside orthodox St. Nicolas Church, pass by The Yusupovs' Palace, New Holland Island, over Blagovezschensky Bridge, visit St. Basil's Island (Vasilievsky Ostrov), pass by the Egyptian sphynxes, Academy of Fine Arts, Menshikov Palace, Kunstkamera, The Academy of Sciences, Zoological Museum, The Research Institute of Pavlov, stop in front of the University, drive over Palace Bridge, along the palace embankment by The Hermitage, turn to The Moika River, stop at the Spilled Blood Church (outside), drive to the Square of Arts (a photo stop), pass by The Russian Museum, Philharmonic of Shostakovich, along Sadovaya Street, by Michael's Castle, The Summer Garden, The Field of Mars. Depending on traffic condition, you can continue driving to Smolny Cathedral.

Must-see sights: Peterhof Fountain Park, Nevsky Prospect, Square of Arts, Spilled Blood Church, Alexandrinsky Theater, St. Isaac's Square, The Winter Palace, Palace Square, Bronze Horseman (Peter the Great statue), Strelka with Rostral Columns, Fine Arts Academy, The Admiralty, University, etc.

Optional: The Synagogue.

Inside visits: Peterhof Fountain Park, St. Nicolas Naval Church. If you wish to add inside visits for other cathedrals, please request it when making a booking. Additional entrance fees will apply.

Remarks: The fountains season lasts from 1st of May until the middle of October. Monday and last Tuesday (except high season) - day off for Peterhof Palace. Peterhoff Palace is not wheel-chair accessible. Photo/video is not allowed inside Peterhof Palace. The ramp is only in the eastern part of the Lower Garden.You should be able to walk about 1,5 miles. Comfortable footwear is recommended for this tour as in some areas you will have to walk on cobble stones. It is not permitted to bring liquids to the palace. Food and drinks are only allowed in museum cafes. Only small bags are allowed inside. Backpacks, umbrellas, suitcases and overcoats should be left in the cloakroom.

Child younger than 6 y.o. may travel with 1 parent free of charge. Schoolchildren, students and children over 6 y.o. receive a discounted rate. (Students must provide their international ISIC ID card to our Tour Coordinator upon payment to claim their discount. If they fail to do this, they will be charged the full adult price).
