Tour description: In the morning, you will take a trip to the suburban town of Pushkin (ex-Tsarskoye Selo) 18 miles south of St.Petersburg and tour the favorite residence of Empress Catherine the Great - Catherine's Palace. Your journey will last about 1 hour each way. During this time you will pass through the residential and suburban areas of St.Petersburg and see apartment houses of the local people. Upon arrival, you will enter Catherine's palace without line*. You will admire gorgeous baroque architecture and the sumptuous interiors decoration: the Grand Hall of Mirrors, the Marble Staircase, Red Pillar Room, Gala Dining-rooms and the world-famous Amber Room with its walls decorated with pieces of real amber. You will next stroll in the Gardens of Catherine’s Palace. Your guide will take you around the picturesque area surrounding Catherine’s Palace. You will view the snow-white Cameron Gallery, the Grotto, and enjoy the idyllic views of the French regular park and mirror-like ponds.
You will next travel back to St.Petersburg, have a short rest for lunch and continue city sightseeing. You will drive along the Nevsky prospect, pass by the Grand Hotel Europe, the House of Books, Kazan cathedral, further along the Malaya Morskaya street to St.Isaac's square (a photo stop), stop at St.Isaac's cathedral (outside), drive to the Mariinsky Theatre, the Synagogue (outside), visit inside St.Nicolas church, pass by the Yusupovs' palace, New Holland island, over the Blagovezschensky bridge, reach St.Basil's island (Vasilievsky ostrov), pass by the Egyptian sphynxes, the Academy of Fine Arts, Menshikov palace, Kunstkamera, the Academy of Sciences, Zoological museum, the Strelka with Rostral columns (a photo stop), the Research Institute of Pavlov, stop in front of the University, drive over the Palace bridge, along the Palace embankment by the Hermitage, turn to the Moika river, stop at the Church-on-the-Spilled-Blood (outside), drive to the Square of Arts (a photo stop), pass by the Russian museum, Philharmonic of Shostakovich, along the Sadovaya street, by Michael's Castle, the Summer Garden, the Field of Mars, drive over the Trinity bridge, along Petrograd side, Peter the Great's Log cabin, Cruiser Aurora (a photo stop), pass by Peter & Paul fort and cathedral, the Zoo and return to the city center. Depending on traffic condition, you can continue driving to Smolny cathedral.
Must-see sights: the Nevsky prospect, Square of Arts, the Spilled Blood Church, Alexandrinsky theatre, St.Isaac's square, Winter Palace, Palace Square, Bronze Horseman (Peter the Great statue), Strelka with Rostral Columns, Fine Arts Academy, the Admiralty, the University, etc.

Inside visits: Catherine's Palace and Park, St.Nicolas Naval church. If you wish to add inside visits to other cathedrals, please request it when making a booking. Additional entrance fee will apply.
Remarks: * for groups below 6 people. Bigger groups will have to wait some 10 minutes as the groups are let inside by portions (about 50 people at a time). Tuesday - day off for Catherine's Palace. Catherine palace is wheel-chair accessible. There are steep stairs at the entrance. Private groups under 6 pax will enter without queue. Larger groups will have to wait a bit as groups are allowed inside by portions (about 50 people at once). Comfortable footwear is recommended for this tour. It is not permitted to bring liquids to Catherine's Palace. Food and drinks are only allowed in the museum cafes. Only small bags are allowed inside. Backpacks, umbrellas, suitcases and overcoats should be left in the cloakroom. Flash photography is forbidden. Amateur photo/video permits are included into the tour cost.
